Vjera Katalinić: glazbeni izvori i jedinstvo europske kulture / Vjera Katalinić: Musical Sources and the Unity of European Culture

2020

The generation to which Vjera Katalinic belongs is that of those born about ten years after the end of the Second World War. It is the generation of young people who grew up in Zagreb, who through no fault of their own were obliged to pay for the faults of the fascist Ante Pavelić. Up until 1990, one must remember, Croatia was under ‘special surveillance’. Any proposal for change coming from this republic kindled the fear of a nationalist reflux, the worst syndrome for the Federation of Yugoslavia. The article analyses the career of Katalinic from the 1980s to her jubilee in 2020, and emphasises the outcomes from the time of her charge as director of the Institute of Musicological Research …

Perspectives of tax reforms in Croatia: expert opinion survey

2014

In order to shape tax reform it is necessary objectively to assess the current stateof-the- art of and of the outlook for the tax system. After having reviewed all previous reforms in the light of the consumption-based (interest- adjusted) concept of direct taxation, which was almost systematically implemented in Croatia in 1994, we present the results of a broad expert opinion survey about the Croatian tax system. The most interesting results suggest the maintenance/(re)introduction of different tax incentives and reduced VAT rates, rejection of a flat tax as well as decrease of tax brackets, an increase in alcohol and tobacco duties, the introduction of a financial activities tax, a furth…

Therefore, the business sector has created an imperative for higher education institutions (HEIs) to modify study programs and prepare students to be effective team players. In addition, the role of culture and gender in students’ perceptions of group work has received little attention. The purpose of this study is to examine how university students perceive group work in terms of its benefits and risks and whether their national culture and gender …

The narrator of Crystal Gates who is the protagonist of the novel too is making areconstruction of his youth and the artistic life in Belgrade of the 1960s. Apocryphal Passions of the Apostles in Croatian Glagolitic Texts

2020

In the course of the Middle Ages, apocryphal and hagiographic texts of The Acts of the Apostles of various origins became part of the Croatian Glagolitic literature. The Passion of Saint Andrew, for example, is documented in the sanctorale of nineteen Croatian Glagolitic breviaries dating from the period between the 14th and mid-16th centuries. The Glagolitic Passion is an abbreviated translation of the Latin Epistula presbyterorum et diaconorum Achaiae (BHL 428) from the 6th century. The texts of the Passion of Jamesthe Apostle (Jacobus Maior, apost., filius Zebedaei, frater Johannis, Passio, BHL 4057) are found in two Glagolitic breviaries, namely the Breviary of Vitus of Omi?alj (1396) a…
